Pre-school swim lessons are 30-minute classes that offer children their
first experience without parental assistance. They are taught the basic skills that are the building blocks for
swimming. Instructional floatation devices (IFD's) are used to help the children gain confidence in performing different
skills. Students progress upon mastering all of the skills required in their current level. The pre-school swim
lesson program is comprised of the following four levels:

This beginner level
is for children who have never had swim lessons before or who have a fear of the water. Basic skills such as breath
control, floating, kicking, and paddling are introduced here. 3-Float IFD's are used.

This advanced beginner
level builds on the skills learned in the previous level. It is for children who are comfortable in the water and
who can perform skills without assistance. 2-Float IFD's are used.

At this intermediate level,
the skills from the first two levels are reviewed. Children begin to improve stroke skills and build endurance by swimming
on their front and back for longer distances. 1-Float IFD's are used.

Children at this advanced level
refine their strokes as well as their floating skills. They learn about diving and underwater swimming here. At
this final level of the pre-school swim lesson program, children should be able to swim one length of the pool on their front
and back. No IFD's are used.
