SCHOOL LEAGUE
The
YMCA School Swim League introduces kids 5 - 14 years of age to the excitement of competitive swimming. The league
is held in the spring with three teams made up of elementary and middle school kids participating in weekday
practices and swim meets. You don't have to know about the sport, you just have to know how to have FUN!
Prerequisites:
Preschool participants must have Starfish skills and be able to swim the length of the pool without a floatation device.
School Age participants must have Minnow skills or better.

SUMMER LEAGUE
The next step in the swim team program serves as a continuation of what is learned in the School
League. The summer swim team involves kids 5 - 18 years old who work on the techniques of competitive
swimming, including all the strokes, starts and turns. The competition
heats up as the team competes in the Kanawha Valley Swim League against various teams from Charleston,
WV. The Summer League runs June through July and involves some travel to clubs in the Kanawha Valley.
Prerequisites: School League experience strongly encouraged. Ages 5
and up! Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool proficiently without a floatation device, unassisted,
and without stopping.
BRY Summer/Year Round Members: $40 (less than $2.50 a practice!)
Y Members: $50 (less than $2.75 a practice!)
Program Members: $70 (less than $3 a practice!)
BRY PIRANHAS SWIM TEAM
The Beckley
- Raleigh County YMCA (BRY) Piranhas Swim Team is a competitive, year-round program designed to provide any swimmer the
opportunity to swim at the level he or she desires while developing and building character, self-esteem, life skills and life-long
activities within the structure of the YMCA and USA Swimming.
The BRY Team is divided into six groups based on swimmer's age, ability and competition
level. Although competition is not mandatory, it is strongly encouraged. Each swimmer must be a YMCA member.
